Fashion Disasters – How To Avoid Becoming One

Fashion is all about being you. Regrettably, people don’t always look good when they feel good. Do you remember that day when you saw a girl walking down the road wearing a red fuzzy sweater with a pair of cream corduroy pants and that made you cringe inwards at yourself?  Yes, there are quite a few challenged people in the World when it somes to fashion.

Most fashion disasters happen when people try to look like someone else. They wear the clothes their favorite celebrity sports, basically trying to be someone they are not. Most clothes celebrities put on for the camera would look ridiculous on normal people. Even if it happened to suit a person, the tights with the midriff that the celebrity modeled so well would look outlandish being worn anywhere else. So well, unhappily, people end up looking plain absurd when they try to hard to become the fashionista of the land. Some points to be kept in mind are

  • The main reason why people end up looking plain bizarre most of the time is that they don’t understand their body type. You first have to accept your body the way it is and only then can you contemplate on wearing stuff that would compliment your body. If you are bent on wearing that dress that’s two sizes small for you just because you can squeeze into it please don’t! Just because you can get into it doesn’t mean you should wear it. Extra tight clothes would make even the slimmest person look bulky with bulges all over. You won’t want to look like that!
  • We know you want to stay stylish, but blindly adopting every major trend that’s around your neighborhood spells trouble with a capital ‘T’. You do not want to do that! Identify with your body type. Don’t care if every single person is wearing tights suddenly, if you don’t have the greatest legs, stay away from them!
  • Don’t doll up yourself trying to look perfect. Try to avoid overdoing anything, for example, every single accessory you have on does not have to exactly match the outfit you have on. You are going to look preposterous if you go out wearing a yellow dress with a yellow band and a yellow bracelet to top it off. Keep it simple. If you want to overdo it a bit, like with chunky beads and stuff, know what you’re doing.
  • One major thing to remember is to keep away from too much bling. Don’t shine all over, people would definitely get dazzled by you, but not in a good way. While it’s nice to experiment, you don’t need to try wearing a stunning necklace with your metallic top.

One sure shot way to avoid becoming a fashion disaster is to build on your own style. Go with your intuition; try to inculcate your personality and nature into your sense of dressing keeping in mind the latest trend.
